Jill Felker, adjunct instructor and research technician for biology and biochemistry and molecular biology at Penn State Berks, has been selected to receive the Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP) scholarship.

Students who will be high school seniors in the fall and their families are invited to attend the Penn State Berks Spend a Summer Morning program on Saturday, Aug. 10, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Beaver Community Center.

Fifty-four Penn State Berks students received recognition at the Penn State Berks Scholastic Awards Ceremony. The awards presented included the Evan Pugh Scholar Award, the President Sparks Award, and the President’s Freshman Award.

Flores is the first Berks student to be awarded and to take part in the Cultural Vistas Fellowship, a fully-funded summer internship program specifically designed for students for whom such international opportunities might otherwise be out of reach.

As part of its sustainability initiatives, Penn State Berks will have an on-site document shredder on campus for faculty and staff from 9 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the Franco Building parking lot.

This fall, Penn State Berks faculty, staff and students will be counting their steps toward a Berks Walks to the Moon campus challenge.

Ed Laquidara is the founder and curator of Animal Adventures, New England’s largest privately owned animal rescue center of its kind, and head speaker and animal handler for EdLaquidara.com, an exotic animal rescue and education organization. Laquida and his animal friends will visit the Berks campus on Aug. 29.
