In an effort to highlight the Penn State Values among the student population, the Penn State Berks Diversity Committee held its annual Penn State Values Poetry Writing Contest for students in the spring 2021 semester.

Troi Howell, a first-year student at Penn State Berks, was recently recognized for her essay titled “Lack of Diversity in the Distribution of Wealth in America.”

Penn State recognized its recipients for Student Organization and Involvement Awards and Student Service and Leadership Awards during the week of April 26.

The winning writers of Penn State University Libraries Short Stories’ “A Night at the Circus” spring 2021 contest have been announced. Representing five Penn State campuses, the latest writing contest encouraged students, faculty and staff across the commonwealth to submit their best circus-themed creative writing in the form of short stories or poetry.

While it was a winding road to graduation for Jake Cumens, it led him to a destination that exceeded his expectations. He will graduate as one of two student marshals from Penn State Berks on Saturday, May 8.

For some students, finding the drive to finish their studies during the global pandemic and upheaval of the last three semesters has posed a significant challenge. Wooseong “Woo” Cho has faced that challenge head-on — from the other side of the world. He will graduate from Penn State Berks on Saturday, May 8.

Kaitlyn Pasquarella may be graduating in just three years, but she packed a lot into that time. As one of Penn State Berks' two student marshals, she will earn her degree in life science, with a minor in chemistry, on Saturday, May 8.

As part of Penn State’s continued commitment to student access and affordability, Housing and Food Services, a University auxiliary service, is piloting a LiveOn Student Success Grant to support need-based students residing on campuses across the commonwealth for the 2021-22 academic year.

After changing paths which led to four different colleges, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Beller found her home at Penn State Berks. She earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering during the college’s commencement ceremonies on May 8.

While a major in electro-mechanical engineering technology with a minor in civic and community engagement may seem like an unusual combination to some, it was the perfect fit for Lisa Panczner. She received her degree during Penn State Berks’ commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 8.
