High school seniors and their families are invited to attend the Penn State Berks Spend a Summer Evening Tours from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, or the Spend a Summer Morning Information Session from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 10.  

Penn State Berks 2024 alumna Angela Bonopane earned the Best Undergraduate Research Paper Award from the Pennsylvania Academy of Criminal Justice Educators (PACJE), a statewide organization of faculty, practitioners and students in criminal justice. She also received the PACJE Bernie Meyer Student Scholarship and presented her research at the conference. 

Sarah Hartman-Caverly, reference and instruction librarian at Berks Thun Library, Penn State Berks, was recognized June 6 for her work co-leading a peer community that explores heterodoxy in the context and practice of academic librarianship. Hartman-Caverly’s community, Heterodox Libraries, received the inaugural HxA Community Excellence Award from the Heterodox Academy.

Two Penn State Berks students received the 2024 Erickson Discovery Grant. Rising fourth-year student Kimberly Nicholas and rising third-year student Nathan Tam are two of the 43 recipients of the grant University-wide.  

Jenny Jewell Kramer never dreamed that she could attend college, much less earn a degree. But that’s exactly what she’s doing at Penn State Berks with the assistance of interpreters from Keystone Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services  and support from the college. 

Penn State has announced the recipients of the inaugural Presidential Public Impact Research Awards, a new program designed to support faculty and students who are working on research projects that directly benefit communities.

Penn State Berks has named over 710 students to the spring 2024 dean’s list. To earn a dean’s list designation, students must end the semester with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher.   

Drawing from personal experience, and with support from Berks Launchbox, Rogers created The Fourth Trimester MAHMEE, a startup that advocates for pregnant and postpartum women with the help of support services.  

As part of the honors effective speech course in the spring 2024 semester, students learned how to enhance their communication skills while also learning how to make sushi. The course was taught by Cheryl Nicholas, associate professor of communication arts and sciences and global studies.

"Not One More: A Peace and Justice Project" has been selected as a 2024 Love & Light honoree by the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The Love & Light Recognition Tour spotlights remarkable individuals and organizations that exemplify love, light and upliftment in the community.
