Beginning in mid-September, Penn State Berks will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and host a variety of events; each event is intended for a specific audience, including prospective and current students, the campus community, and the general public.

This fall, Penn State Berks welcomed 110 international students to the campus community. Of that number, 40 are new students. To help these students succeed, the college has implemented a variety of programs and events.

Actor and singer-songwriter Bryan Terrell Clark, best known for his starring role as George Washington in "Hamilton: An American Musical on Broadway," will visit Penn State Berks at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium.

Students, faculty and staff at Penn State Berks will welcome family and alumni to campus when the college hosts its annual Family and Homecoming Weekend, from Thursday, Sept. 26, to Sunday, Sept. 29. This year’s theme is ‘Once upon a time at Berks.’

Penn State Berks will hold its Unity Day celebration, an annual Penn State event that helps bring students, faculty, staff and community members together to celebrate diversity, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.

William J. Doan — Penn State Laureate for the 2019–20 academic year, professor of theatre in the College of Arts and Architecture, and artist-in-residence in the College of Nursing — will bring “The “Anxiety Project” to Penn State Berks on Sept. 30.

A comprehensive new scholarship program for academically outstanding Penn State Berks undergraduates, the Cohen-Hammel Fellows Program is designed to prepare students to become engaged and ethical leaders in the 21st century.

Prospective students and their families are invited to a visitation program at Penn State Berks at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Perkins Student Center, located just off Broadcasting Road in Wyomissing.

The Resilient Resumes team took third place in the Nittany AI Challenge, held at Penn State University Park campus on September 10, 2019. The team received $5,000 from Nittany AI Alliance for their web application designed to walk the user through the resume creation process.

Three Penn State researchers — Rachel Brennan, in the College of Engineering, and Mike Jacobson and Brian Thiede, in the College of Agricultural Sciences — recently received $250,000 in University Strategic Plan seed funding to address global Water-Energy-Food challenges.
