Penn State Berks middle school youth camps focus on STEM subjects

Penn State Berks offers a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related Middle School Youth CamMS ps in a fun and relaxed environment. The camps are for students entering fifth through eighth grades in fall 2015. Camps run from Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Penn State Berks summer sessions begin May 18

The summer sessions at Penn State Berks begins on May 18, 2015. There will be more than 60 classes offered in the two summer sessions, with the first six-week session running from May 18-June 25, and the second seven-week session running from June 29-August 6. Courses will be offered in a variety of disciplines including accounting, chemistry, information systems, math, business, English, communications, psychology, Spanish, and many others.

Alumni “flying high” from awards for drone business start-up

Three Penn State Berks engineering alumni are "flying high" after receiving two different awards for their innovative plan for a start-up company, Onuku Industries, which builds customizable drones using open source software: One award was from the college and the other was from the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce.

Nicholas receives Commission on LGBT Equity´s 2015 Outstanding Service Award

Dr. Cheryl Nicholas, Associate Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State Berks, received Penn State University's Commission on LGBT Equity´s 2015 Outstanding Service Award. The award was presented at the Lavender Graduation on Penn State's University Park campus on April 17, 2015, and recognized Nicholas´s service to the LGBT community as an active participant in improving the climate of diversity and inclusion for LGBT people at Penn State.

Tyler Proper has always had an interest in the medical field. After graduating from high school in 2006, he enrolled in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman, acting as a first responder on the battlefield to Marine Corps infantry. When his military career came to an end, he knew he wanted to continue his studies in the medical field. He will graduate with a B.S. in Kinesiology on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Penn State Berks will host its seventeenth annual Careers with Math Options Conference on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, for female middle school students from Berks County and surrounding school districts. The conference will feature speakers from Penn State Berks and the community. A wide variety of engaging and interactive workshops will be provided to encourage the young women to continue their studies in math, science, engineering, technology, finance, and related fields.
